Our Investments

KIPP DC Lacrosse Team

Since its inception, the Foundation has made investments to fund the lacrosse program at KIPP-DC and to fund the girls soccer and boys basketball teams at Hampstead Hill Academy, a charter school in Baltimore operated by the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP).  In addition, the Foundation has funded an outdoor leadership and education program for 160 5th – 8th grade students at Hampstead Hill Academy.

For the 2010-11 school year, the Foundation has made an investment to fund a four-team soccer league in Patterson Park in Baltimore in which the four charter schools operated by BCP will compete.  The goal of the league is not only to teach the students to play soccer but, more importantly, to get the students out in the fresh air, to promote healthy choices and provide an opportunity for everyone to play with one another in a safe, educational and nurturing environment.   Without this funding, these students would not have the means to experience the comraderie, teamwork, sportsmanship, and myriad other benefits that arise from participating in competitve athletics.

The Foundation has also made a substantial contribution to Friends School in Baltimore to initiate a scholarship in David’s name.  The scholarship will be enable a student in the Baltimore City public school system or a Baltimore City charter school with an outstanding scholastic record and character, and who has a significant financial need, to attend Friends School.  Because David loved his experience at Friends, it is fitting that the Foundation created in his name can assist in giving that same opportunity to others that could not otherwise afford it.
