The Big Red Steelheads

Six months after David’s passing, his former Cornell University classmates  formed an amateur lacrosse team in David’s honor comprised of Cornell alumni and current Big Red players.  The team is named the Big Red Steelheads.  David liked to fish, hence the name.  Led by goalie and great friend, Matt Norfolk, the team has competed the past three years in the Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Tournament in early August. Each year, the mission for the Steelheads is to bring together current players and alumni from the Cornell lacrosse family, grow the family beyond Dave’s reach, instill in the new alumni and younger players David’s drive, his competiveness, and his generosity – all that – and contribute some funds to the David L. Holder Education Foundation through player donations.

The event has become a wonderul family event, capped off by an awesome party and bonfire at the Norfolk’s beautiful home in Lake Placid.
